  • My child has a school account. Does the Fonetti app record and store their voice recordings?

    Whether you are a direct consumer or part of a school subscription, we hold your privacy in high regard and maintain a steadfast commitment to data protection. Rest assured, we strictly adhere to stringent policies when it comes to recording and handling data..

    At no point do we record or store any voice recordings without the explicit consent of the account owner. We extend this privacy commitment across all aspects of our products and website, ensuring a secure and safe environment for our users.

    There may be occasions when, for the advancement and training of our technology, we request users to 'opt in' to data recording. However, rest assured that we never record or save the voice recordings without the expressed consent from the account owner.

    To maintain clarity, we collect reading data from voice recordings to enhance our analytics. This allows us to share insightful information with stakeholders and support the reader's journey effectively.

    In addition, we never trade or sell any data or information you provide us with third parties. Your privacy is of utmost importance to us, and we consistently strive to ensure it is respected at all times.

  • Is Fonetti available on any smartphones (iPhones/Android)?

    At this time we do not think the Fonetti experience would be as rich on a small mobile device, which is the most common format of Smartphones. The design of our pages and graphics would be very small on the screen and to break up the text over multiple screens would not be as engaging, and the flow of read speech is lost when handled in short sections.

    We want Fonetti to be an aid to natural reading, but also an enjoyable experience, which is why we take time to create colourful imagery to enhance the story and immerse the child in the book.

    In the future we may introduce a new range of books which will be designed specifically with Smartphones in mind.

  • Not every word is being recognised by my child/turning green on Fonetti

    Our voice technology has an accuracy reading level of around 92pct which is close to human parity, however, as you will appreciate like any voice-enabled software we are not perfect.

    With active customer feedback we are able to continually enhance our engine to improve our reading accuracy levels and the overall user experience, so please do let us know if you come across this or any other issue by visiting our contact us page and submitting a request and we thank you in advance for your help with this!

    Fonetti is a reading tool designed to build confidence and reward children, we have set the engine to tolerate some similar sounding words to positively encourage children so they do not feel as though they have done something wrong. We would suggest that with any words they are unsure of to double tap on the word when it will be read aloud for them to repeat.

  • On what platforms can I access Fonetti?

    Fonetti is currently available for both iPad and a selection of Android tablets.

  • Which iPad models are most compatible with Fonetti?

    Fonetti requires an iPad with iOS version 13 or above, and runs at its’ best on the latest version 15 which includes any iPad released from 2015 onwards.

    To find the version installed on your iPad, go to Settings > General, then tap About..

  • Can Fonetti be used on a desktop computer or Google Chrome book?

  • I am an adult trying out Fonetti and it is not responding to my voice as I would have expected?

    Our engine is designed for children’s ‘read speech’ which is a completely different speech pattern to that of adult and conversational speech. As a consequence of this, an adult using our app would not share the same level of reading accuracy or experience as a child’s.

  • Can more than one child from the same family access Fonetti?

    Yes, by signing up to the family subscription. Children can either share the same device switching profiles inside the app or you can login to your parent account on multiple devices. You can upgrade at any time by logging into your Fonetti account.

  • Can one account be used to log into more than one device?

    Whilst you can log into your Fonetti account on as many devices as you like, each reader profile can only be active on one device at a time.

  • Can the books be read offline?

    Currently our app requires you have an internet connection at all times. We’re working hard to bring our technology offline. Make sure you’ve opted in to receive our email updates so we can let you know when reading offline is available.

  • How do I set up a new reader?

    If you have a family subscription already, just hit the plus button on the profile selection screen you see when opening the app.

    Don’t have a family subscription? You can subscribe online which includes a free trial. Just remember to sign in with the same details used to log in to the Fonetti app.

  • My child already has a Fonetti subscription, how do I switch to their school account?

    To switch accounts, first ensure you have logged out of your home account.

    Click the THREE LINE MENU in the app and select LOGOUT.

    Login using the QR code provided by the school, by simply using the tablet’s camera.

  • My child has a school account but I’d like to sign up for Fonetti. How do I do that?

    Head to fonetti.com/signup and register for a Fonetti Subscription.

    Once you’ve created your account, open the Fonetti App. Logout of your current school profile, then log back in using your new account details.

    To switch back to the school account, simply Logout and then . Login using the QR code provided by the school, by simply using the tablet’s camera.

  • Are there more books in the pipeline?

    Yes. Books are added regularly with new titles every month.

  • What do I do if my account on Fonetti.com is not linking with the app?

    Ensure you have selected the “Sign in” option, not the “Create account” inside the app. Also, check that you are entering the same email address and password you used to register on the website.

  • How much does a Fonetti subscription cost?

    Subscribing to Fonetti costs just £3.49 per month for single device access and £4.99 per month for multiple users (up to 4 tablets) on concurrent devices.

    You can also purchase an Annual Subscription, where a year long access on a single device (up to 4 users) is just £19.99, and on multiple devices (up to 4 tablets) is an amazing £29.99.

  • How can I update my payment details?

    If you are subscribed via our website, you can update your payment details from our online portal.

    If you subscribed through the app, you should update your details via the App Store or Google PlayStore

  • What countries is Fonetti available in?

    Fonetti is currently available in the following countries:

    Great Britain & Northern Ireland, Spain, Italy, Malta, Poland, Ukraine, India, Turkey, United Stated of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Nigeria & South Africa.
