What is the UK National Read Aloud Challenge?

The UK National Read Aloud Challenge is a fantastic way to cultivate a love of reading from an early age. This initiative involves using the Award Winning Fonetti app, which offers a range of engaging stories and factual books. By participating in this challenge, your child will build confidence in reading, develop speech and comprehension skills, and enhance vocabulary - all while having fun with the app over summer.

Who can Participate?

Children of all reading abilities between the ages of 5-15
UK nationals, living in the UK

Challenge Milestones

Children will be aiming to read aloud as much as possible to hit various milestones over the challenge period. When a milestone is achieved, your child will receive a personalised certificate signed by our brand ambassador Clare Balding CBE.
If all 6 milestones are hit, your child will be put in a draw for the opportunity to win some amazing prizes!
We have two major milestones which are outlined here as well as many more to discover!

Once both milestones have been completed, your child will make it onto the National Leaderboard and have the chance to win some incredible prizes, including books and vouchers.

Once they have made it onto the National Leaderboard, they will need to continue reading books on the Fonetti app to keep themselves at the top and gain a higher chance of winning prizes.

The leaderboard can be filtered so children can compare themselves with children of their own age or children taking part in their regional area. If you are part of a MAT, your school will be able to filter to see how your school is doing against other schools in your trust throughout the challenge.
